The DNA of Atlantic salmon (Salmon in the Atlantic Ocean) has been altered by major fish research companies with quick-growth genes to allow them to grow more quickly. A lot of the foods we eat regularly are genetically modified in various ways, and unless you do the research you wouldn’t know this. These genetically modified salmon are about to be allowed on the market by Food & Drug Administration (FDA). Certain food activists believe that the FDA doesn’t have tests that can properly check whether these modified salmon are safe or not. Aqua Bounty Technologies has already started injecting tiny red Atlantic salmon eggs with Pacific Chinook salmon & Ocean Pout genes, to make this the first transgenic animal to be approved by the FDA. You can check out further details on aol news.
