@MartyaLaMode: - Relationships vs. Social Networks "Facebook Edition"

I recently gave you guys the run down on how to minimize the chances of "Twitter" affecting your relationship, so now I'm going to try to help with the infamous "Facebook" without giving away too many of my secrets.

When it comes to "Facebook" your significant other has to do little to no work to find out what you're doing online. "Facebook" is a Lurkers paradise, and any & everyone who lurks spends their vacation/off time there. We've all seen the new updates made on that dangerous site during the Summer, and it's obvious that the guy who orchestrated those updates has trouble keeping tabs on what his lady is doing.

People often complained about the privacy issues of "Facebook", but honestly I never saw a problem ONLY because it used to be much worse. My first account on "Lurk Island" was made in 2006, and it only lasted for about two months. The "Facebook" I joined back then left "Notifications" & updates whenever somebody sent a message, left a comment, added someone, and it even previewed some of the content at times. I knew it was time for me to get out of there when a girl I was talking to back then knew who I messaged, and had an idea of what we were talking about. If that wasn't enough one of my homeboys called me one morning to ask if I snatched up & started messing with some girl, because he saw us sending messages NOT comments but messages on his "News Feed". I purchased the first one-way ticket that I could find to get off of "Lurk Island" & I got all the way out of there.

I'm back on "Lurk Island" these days though, and have been fluently operating there for about a year, and change. These days the site is very much different but the same in all aspects. I'm much older & wiser now, plus I don't want any trouble but anyone who has mastered the ancient "Art of the Lurk" knows how to avoid issues on "Lurk Island". It seems people don't know that you can handle your privacy on the island with a few slight adjustments. You have full control over who can see your photos, comments, and other content.
  • Facebook Chat may be one of the most annoying features on the island but you actually have the ability to pick & choose who can hit you up within the settings.

  •  You have to be a real dumb individual to let people "Check You In" to locations and places when you know your significant other thinks you're doing something else.

  • Beware of fake accounts. Yeah, that's right your significant other may be that insecure & will watch your page from either a fake or other people's accounts.

  • If you have a significant other, you should already know that you're being watched. The wrong status or photo "Like" will put you in a situation you do NOT want to be in.

  • Let's try to avoid posting statuses about everything that's going on in the relationship.

  • If you don't care about your relationship & want to get in trouble go ahead, and post on your ex's status. That's the easiest way to jump into your significant others Lion's Den.

  • Your "Relationship Status" really isn't anyone's business, so constantly changing it only makes you look stupid, foolish, confused, and vulnerable depending on the status.

  • The ONLY people who believe that you can't combat the "Lurk" on "Facebook" are the people who really believe that Ice Cube had a triple double, won all the money from both a dice & domino game, and was able to have sex with a girl that gave him no play since the 12th grade. NOBODY has that much of a good day, and you won't either thinking that you can move sneaky on Social Networks without following the "Lurk Laws".
