À La Mode has a new writer for the site, and her name is
Liz. @LizeykaLinett's first piece is called
"A Letter to The Roses" which is a
message to young women,
and females everywhere & hopefully her message
hits home with a few people.
Also look forward to the other parts of this
message coming soon.
With
today's generation, it seems as though many young girls and women alike
have forgotten their value & self worth. Not all, but many
females have taken advantage of women independence, and what it means to
have the same equal rights as men. We, as females have come a long way.
We came from not having the right to vote, to work, and even being
looked down upon by the men who were in control of society all the way
to gaining equal rights and being able to go to school, gain an
education, and apply to the same jobs as men. The point that I am trying
to get to is that we have come too far to ignore all of this, and to
throw away something we all should know as self worth. Instead of doing
what they have to do in school, going out to look for a job, making
themselves a better person, finding true love within themselves and
focusing on being happy & making their parents proud, a female
would rather follow the footsteps of others such as those they see on
television. Too many females have thrown away their self respect, and
worth for fame, sometimes even for fast money.
But
who is to blame? Society. The programs shown on television in this
generation do not revolve around young girls getting along, they don't
teach children how to love and be loved with family shows nor being a
strong individual who grows up from the poor and follows his/her dreams
then becomes successful. What they do showcase to young girls are grown
women fighting against one another, young teenage girls getting
pregnant, and having children at the tender age of sixteen and my
question is who is going to be the voice? The one to tell young girls
that they DON'T have to fight against one another to feel better about
themselves or have sex at a young age to then have a child and struggle
even more just for a television role. Who is going to be the one or ones
to set an example for this generation? We need our young girls to rise,
have self confidence, love and respect for themselves. We need them to
educate themselves, work hard; grow up to be happy and successful. The
movement starts with one but will end in thousands. There needs to be
change, and most importantly, a better future. Not only for us, the
older individuals but for our daughters and young men. How will a young
man respect a female who has no respect for herself? How will society
respect women as a whole? Let us grow.
Only if a lot more of us women would understand and realize this!
