This Fall Warner Bros. is set to release the movie "Gangster Squad" based on Brooklyn mobster Mickey Cohen. Cohen is partially responsible for Vegas' race wire betting, the start and development of what we now know as Las Vegas' oldest resort The Flamingo Hotel. Cohen was sent to Los Angeles to watch over another mobster, and ended up becoming an international celebrity. The movie revolves around a few LAPD officers who plan to start a war against Mickey Cohen's powerful reign over LA. I'm a big fan of the old mob figures, so hopefully they do this story justice, even though most of it already seems fictional.
