I am kind of late posting this but Oct.16th marked the 13th anniversary
of the Louis Farrakhan led Million Man March.
After the first Million Man March on Oct.16th 1995, one and a half million
black men registered to vote. The Million
Man March has nothing to do with religion it was a chance for black men
to be aware and enlighten themselves on things
like Medicaid, welfare, and housing programs. To commemorate this
achievement Farrakhan will be leading a few outreach
proceedings. Farrakhan will start out speaking to the prison in-mates
of the Chicago County Jail given them a message of
self-empowerment. Louis Farrakhan will be given the message
"A New Beginning" on Oct.19th the
Nation of Islam's Day of Atonement. Despite his Islamic faith the message
is to bring people of all faiths and religions together
based on their principles and elements. Minister Farrakhan has also restored the
Mosque Maryam, which is the headquarters for the
Nation of Islam and is where he will be delivering his message on the 19th.
Nas and Sean Combs will also
be a part this observance to be a symbol of Hip Hop.
